Disaster recovery in Cyprus — a restore you've tested

Backups that have actually been restored, a DR plan someone can follow at 3 a.m., and RTO/RPO you agreed before the outage — not after.

Get a DR assessment

UpSystems designs and tests disaster recovery for companies in Cyprus and for international teams. From Limassol we build immutable backups, write a DR runbook your team can follow under pressure, define realistic RTO and RPO targets, and — the part most people skip — rehearse the failover so you know it works. Part of our DevOps outsourcing, from €500/month.

What's included

Disaster recovery — FAQ

We have backups already — isn't that enough?+

A backup you have never restored is a hope, not a plan. Most failures we are called in for are backups that existed but could not be restored in time — wrong scope, expired media, no documented procedure. DR is backups plus a tested, timed restore and a plan someone can follow.

What are RTO and RPO, and why agree them first?+

RTO is how long you can be down; RPO is how much data you can afford to lose. Agreeing them with the business up front turns 'restore everything perfectly, instantly' (impossible) into concrete, affordable targets the architecture is then built to meet.

How do you protect against ransomware specifically?+

Immutability — backups that cannot be altered or deleted for a retention window (S3 Object Lock, immutable repositories) — plus isolation so an attacker who reaches production cannot reach the backups. We have written about 3-2-1-1-0 and tested restores.

Do you actually rehearse the failover, or just document it?+

We rehearse it. A DR plan that has never been run is untested, and the gaps always show up during the rehearsal rather than during the real outage — which is exactly the point.

What does it cost?+

DR is part of our DevOps service, from €500/month per project. See pricing.

Sure your backups actually restore?

We build immutable backups, test the restore, and rehearse the failover so a disaster is a bad day, not the end. €65/hour, fixed-scope.
