The client
INDEX.cy launched in 2023 and has become the central real estate marketplace for Cyprus. It is a marketplace rather than an agency: it does not sell property itself, it connects sellers and buyers, and it runs on a pay-per-listing model rather than commission. By its own account the platform aggregates tens of thousands of listings from over a hundred agencies and developers, curated and deduplicated automatically.

From the outside it is a property search site. Underneath, several things combine that each add operational risk on their own:
- •Four languages, including Hebrew. English, Greek, Russian and Hebrew are each served on their own URL path with hreflang declared. Hebrew is right-to-left, which means layout and caching behaviour that the other three never exercise.
- •Continuous data ingestion. Listings arrive from more than a hundred external companies and are deduplicated automatically. Ingestion that never stops is a workload that fails differently from ordinary web traffic, and it fails at whatever hour the upstream feed breaks.
- •A content stack with a dynamic front end. WordPress and Elementor render the pages, while the search and filter interface is a JavaScript application on top. Two layers with different failure modes and different caching rules.
- •Edge caching in front of everything. Cloudflare serves the site, which is what makes it fast and also what makes diagnosis harder: what a user sees and what the origin returns are not always the same thing.
- •Traffic that follows a market. Property search is seasonal and reacts to news and rate changes. Capacity that is comfortable in one month is not automatically comfortable in the next.
- •EU data obligations. A consent layer and GDPR handling are part of the platform, not an afterthought bolted onto it.

That is why the response commitment matters more here than a headline uptime figure: things break everywhere, and what separates platforms is how quickly somebody who understands the stack is already looking at it.
